Charice is the debut album by 16-year-old Filipino singer, Charice (used to be Charice Pempengco, with her last name, but they decided to take out her last name and just her name to be her screen name.). The album was released in April 2008 under Star Records. The album contains a combination of remakes of Whitney Houston's and Jennifer Holliday's hits and originals. Here I Stand is R&B singer Usher's fifth studio album, released on May 27, 2008.

Usher originally hoped to release it in November 2007; it finally saw its release on May 27th, 2008. The album's cover shows a license plate 1126, the date of his son's birth.

Songs for the album have been recorded with Jermaine Dupri, Dre & Vidal, and Polow Da Don.

In an April appearance on MTV's TRL, Usher stated that Beyonce and Jay-Z will both appear on his album. Beyonce is featured in the album's second single, "Love In This Club, Part II", while Jay-Z will appear in "Best Thing".

Dupri also talked about the album: "Usher's album is more about teaching men [that] at some point, you gotta grow up. And growing up is respecting a woman and having a woman in your life and taking care of your woman. That's his definition of growing up."

Usher's previous album, Confessions, shares its title with the famous book by womanising Augustine. Here I Stand are similarly famous words attributed to Martin Luther.

VH1 was given a preview of the album and added summaries of each song to its blog.

Usher performed "Love in This Club" live for the first time in the U.S. at the after-party for the season finale of MTV's "The Hills". He was joined onstage by Young Jeezy. He also performed "Love in This Club" live on the season finale of "Dancing With The Stars" without Young Jeezy.

He also appeared on the season finale of Saturday Night Live on May 17, 2008, performing "This Ain't Sex" and "Love In This Club". Usher performed at Radio 1's Big Weekend at Mote Park in the U.K. on Saturday, May 10. Usher is scheduled to perform on the "BET Awards 2008" in Los Angeles on June 24th.

MuchMusic was given the rights to stream Here I Stand a full week before it hits stores.

According to building chart data, the album, despite being on track to top the Billboard 200, will achieve first week sales that are not even within fifty percent of the debut figure for "Confessions".

Mail on Sunday is the debut album by the American hip-hop artist, Flo-Rida and was released March 18, 2008 via Atlantic and Poe Boy Records. Jonas Brothers is the self-titled second studio album of the Jonas Brothers. It is their first album to be released under the Hollywood Records label. The album was released on August 7, 2007. "Hold On" was the album's first single, followed by "S.O.S". The CD was the first to be released using CDVU+ technology. Simple Plan is the third studio album by the Canadian band Simple Plan, released on February 12, 2008. The first single from the CD, "When I'm Gone", was released on October 29, 2007, via iTunes and via lala.com. The "world premiere" of the song was part of a webcast with band members, in which the band answered fan questions. On October 24, Simple Plan had put up a 25 second preview of "When I'm Gone" on their website. The CD was originally set for release on January 29, 2008. However, on November 29, 2007, the band announced a two weeks' delay due to production difficulties, and the need to re-record some lyrics from the song "Generation". An album cover was released in early December 2007. Soon afterwards, in his MySpace blog, band frontman Pierre Bouvier responded to fan concerns about the cover, defending the artwork. However, on December 12, the band released a second proposed album cover, and invited fan views by email about each, indicating (despite Bouvier's earlier comments) that they were fine with either cover. On December 14, 2007, the alternative cover depicted above was announced as selected over the original one depicted below. In April 2008, the rejected CD was released as a limited-edition CD cover in Australia. "Your Love Is A Lie" was first publicly performed at a taping for YouTube on December 18, 2007. All the songs on the CD, except "Holding On" were played at a small show in Montreal on January 11, 2008. The album debuted at #14 on the U.S. Billboard 200, being the highest charting new album that month.

Speak was Lindsay Lohan's debut album and was released in December 2004, and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200. By early 2005, it was certified Platinum.
